Park festival’s unreal line-up is... not real!

IT’S a line-up to die for – and is on its way (sort of) to Singleton Park.

Guns ‘n’ Roses, Bon Jovi, The Jam and Duran Duran are just some of the names on the bill for the event which will take place at the seaside venue next summer.

The Killers and Kasabian make up the rest of the bill.

If it sounds too good to be true, it’s because it is – but it is perhaps the next best thing.

Billed as Swansea Fake Festival, it features six of the country’s most popular tribute acts, which will be touring around the UK.

So while there won’t be any sign of Paul Weller, Axl Rose, Jon Bon Jovi or Simon Le Bon, crowds will be entertained by the sights and sounds made famous by the respective supergroups.

Jez Lee, organiser of the Fake Festival, said: “We’ve been doing this now for more than 12 years, and they are hugely popular, for a variety of reasons. It is value for money, because if you are going to see the real thing, particularly as a family it will cost you a huge amount of money. “But more importantly, the bands are really, really good. “They look like the real thing, sound like the real thing and move like the real thing. There is real attention to detail.

“The amps and the guitars are exactly the same as the bands whose songs they are peforming.

“It also means people can get really close, and they play hit after hit after hit.”

The all-day event takes place on Saturday, June 15, and follows a successful history of events staged at Singleton Park.

This year the venue hosted BBC Music’s Biggest Weekend, featuring some of the world’s biggest recording stars of the moment, including Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.

The capacity for the Fake Festival will be considerably smaller, however, at around 1,800 people.
