A SCHOOL bus was attacked by a group of people throwing stones on Thursday night.

The group threw objects at the windows of the coach, smashing two of them. Thankfully, no children were on board at the time on the incident.

The school bus was near the Gower College Broadway Hairdressing and Beauty Centre when a group began the atttack.

Katie Griffiths, director of Swansea Bus and Coach, said: “No children were injured. If any had been on the bus at the time there could have been serious injuries.

“The amount of glass that shattered inside the coach could have really hurt the children.

“On average the coach takes about 70 children.

“The boys have been cleaning the mess, and saved the stones that were thrown for the police.

“The driver was very shook up. He thought a bullet had gone through the window, that’s what it sounded like. “The bus was outside the hairdressers on Cockett Road at about quarter to four, or ten past four when it happened.” She added: “It’s scary thinking about what could have happened. “I’m sure that South Wales Police will do their job and catch whoever did this.” A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police received a report of objects having been thrown by a group of people at a bus in Broadway, Swansea, at about 4pm on Thursday, November 8. As a result, one of the windows was shattered.”
