A MAN has been pictured defecating outside a shop, then cleaning himself up with his socks - before hugging passers-by.

Traders at Quad Bike Wales discovered evidence of the act when arriving for work on Saturday morning at the shop’s premises in Herbert Street, Pontardawe.

Two soiled, discarded socks remained outside the entrance to the business, prompting staff to examine CCTV footage from overnight.

It revealed an individual, who appeared unsteady on his feet, making his way into a walkway which leads to the shop, before lowering his trousers, and steadying himself by resting his arm on a wall. He then removes both socks to use as makeshift toilet paper.

Moments later, two other individuals walking by stop and point towards him, prompting him to walk over and throw his arms around them - with his hands making contact with their backs and shoulders.

He also holds on to the hand rails near the business a number of times.

Gareth Porter, of Quad Bike Wales, said: “We saw the socks in some leaves when we arrived, and about mid-morning, after we examined CCTV, we discovered what had happened.

“He even stops to talk to passers-by and hugs them.

“Our staff, customers and other members of the public had to walk past the socks in the morning.

“We reported it to the council and in all fairness to them within 30 minutes the poor Street Care lads had come and cleared it all away. But you don’t need to do something like that in this day and age.

A police spokesman said: “We have been made aware of this incident and officers are being sent to the shop to carry out inquiries”.
