MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT (12)

IN THE sixth and arguably best instalment of the globe-trotting franchise, Impossible Missions Force agent Ethan Hunt (Tim Cruise) learns that the terrorist network fronted by Solomon Lane (Sean Harris) is poised to take delivery of stolen plutonium. Hunt and his team must infiltrate the exchange to prevent the payload falling into the hands of Lane’s deranged disciples. However, their movements are closely monitored by hulking CIA operative August Walker (Henry Cavill) who has been instructed by boss Erica Sloane (Angela Bassett) to terminate Hunt if the plan goes sour. ■ Download/stream from November 19 and available on Dvd/blu-ray from December 3.

HOTEL TRANSYLVAN­IA 3 A MONSTER VACATION (U)

COMPUTER-ANIMATED sequel. Mavis (voiced by Selena Gomez) organises a surprise holiday for her nearest and dearest including her father Dracula (Adam Sandler), husband Jonathan (Andy Samberg), six-year-old son Dennis (Asher Blinkoff ) and grandfathe­r Vlad (Mel Brooks). Mavis secretly arranges a voyage to the lost city of Atlantis aboard a luxury cruise liner. “It’s a hotel... on water,” retorts her unimpresse­d father. His mood brightens when he meets the ship’s acrobatic captain, Ericka (Kathryn Hahn), who seems to like a pasty-skinned suitor with an aversion to sunlight and garlic. ■ Download/stream from November 19 and available on Dvd/blu-ray from December 3.

PREVIEW: THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS (15)

OSCAR-WINNING siblings Joel and Ethan Coen co-direct and co-write this western anthology. In the title story, gunslinger Buster Scruggs (Tim Blake Nelson) sings beautifull­y as he casually pulls the trigger on opponents while in Near Algodones, a thieving cowboy (James Franco) puts his neck on the line to outwit a bank teller (Stephen Root). In Meal Ticket, a traveller (Liam Neeson) and his performing compatriot (Harry Melling) hope to impress frontier towns with their oration, while, The Gal Who Got Rattled, focuses on a woman (Zoe Kazan), who is hoping to find a brighter future.
