SWANSEA’S Waterfront Winterland has new rides, food and drink, weekend entertainment and a new ice rink for 2018.

The city’s main festive attraction is back this weekend and it’s expected to be as busy as ever.

We had a look inside before it opened to the public at 4pm yesterday.

Here’s what you can expect from the city’s Waterfront Winterland this year . . .

There are two new rides set to thrill visitors to the Waterfront Winterland this Christmas.

Ice Breaker and Ice Extreme will join the familiar fairground rides at the annual attraction.

Ice Breaker is similar to a twister funfair ride, while Ice Extreme is a fastmoving ride which is promised to boost the adrenalin.

The return of the Sky View is perfect if you’re seeking thrills.

The sky-scraping ride offers great views of the city while spinning around at 40m high.

As well there will be the Giant Wheel, where you can take in the sights at a gentler pace.

However, there will be no space ride this year.

There’s also a new North Pole Funhouse and a new picture snow globe experience which will be perfect for the kids.

For the first time the Admiral ice rink will be undercover with a clear roof.

Skaters will no longer have to worry about getting wet and will be able to skate in all weather conditions.

There’s a new Winterland food area for your favourite festive treats.

The food area will feature a new grill unit for burgers and sausages, including a German stall, a confectionary unit for sweet treats, coffee and crepes, and a new bar from Swansea business Juniper Place.

There will be plenty of outdoor seating and a new sheltered seating area in among the trees.

New for 2018 there will also be free weekend entertainment which will include DJS, live performers and family entertainment including characters from your favourite Disney films to keep the children entertained.

Tokens are needed per person for each ride. The tokens are £1 each. ■ Ice breaker (new ride) – 2 tokens. ■ Funhouse – 2 tokens. ■ Ice Extreme (new) – 3 tokens. ■ Giant Wheel – 4 tokens for adults, 1 token for children aged 3 and under. ■ Sky View – 3 tokens. ■ Game stalls – from 1 token upwards. ■ Ice-skatingprices start from £7 and are cheaper when bought in advance. But the prices are different on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
