Bouncing back for a home gig

-

THEY are the “secretly massive’” band whose fans include Liam Gallagher and Pete Doherty. Yet they famously claimed they couldn’t get a gig at their former local - the Uplands Tavern.

Despite the knock-back - the pub subsequently said the group were welcome to perform at the venue - Trampolene are back in their home town Swansea this week.

The three-piece have supported the likes of the former Oasis frontman, The Libertines, Kasabian and the Buzzcocks among others, having toured continuously over the past three years, including their biggest headline tour to date, which featured a sold-out night at The Scala in London.

Their latest single, The One Who Loves You, has even been championed by no less than Sir Elton John, who enthusiastically played it on his Apple Music radio show.

The group, whose debut album From Swansea to Hornsey was described as a “brilliant debut from indie gutter poets” by Q Magazine and featured in The Independent’s Top Ten Albums of 2017. They have followed it up with Pick A Pocket Or Two, a double album of their EPS and singles released in September.

The festival regulars last played in Swansea at the BBC Biggest Weekend in Singleton Park in the summer - but were scheduled to play at the same time as one of the world’s biggest pop stars Taylor Swift, limiting their audience.

their appearance at The Bunkhouse tomorrow will be a different story - and the band have vowed it will go ahead, despite having to cancel a couple of recent shows due to frontman Jack Jones being diagnosed with tonsillitis.

Drummer Rob Steele said: “We’ve all been struggling for a bit, and Jack just could not do it unfortunately, and it was a shame having to cancel as

we’ve never done that before, but everyone was feeling the effects. “But we will be fine for Swansea. “Our schedule is so busy, but it’s nice in the lead-up to Christmas to be able to come and do a show at

home in Swansea.”
