Coun­try hit by more floods

WALES Tor­ren­tial rain has caused flood­ing and dis­rup­tion across Wales. Heavy rain overnight and early on Fri­day morn­ing caused travel de­lays and saw sev­eral roads be­ing flooded. There was se­ri­ous flood­ing on one of the main routes into Cardiff at Capel Llanill­tern. Nat­u­ral Re­sources Wales had two flood warn­ings and 23 flood alerts in place on Fri­day. The warn­ings were on the River Ely at Llanelay and at the River Ritec in Tenby. A man also had to be res­cued from his ve­hi­cle af­ter it hit flood wa­ter in Pon­ty­clun. An el­derly woman raised the alarm af­ter flood wa­ter en­tered her prop­erty at Llan­wr­tyd Wells. And the river Conwy burst its banks in the Llan­r­wst area af­ter tor­ren­tial down­pours ham­mered the re­gion in re­cent days. High wa­ter lev­els could also be seen around the A487 at Dyfi Bridge north of Machyn­l­leth. There is also more rain on the way.
