Council boss: ‘More to do’ for sites sale

-

NEATH Port Talbot Council’s chief executive has said there is “more to do” when it comes to selling off many of the local authority’s 250 sites.

Discussing the council’s draft budget proposals which involve trying to make £12 million savings for 2019-20, one councillor said he was “surprised” to see the authority still had 250 sites in the county.

Councillor Matthew Crowley said: “It’s been a number of years since we took a view to downsize the estate and I’m surprised to see there’s been such a low number of land sales. We should look, as a council, to see what these sites are worth and, if we can, sell them off.”

Chief executive Steven Phillips said there was a programme in place to do that but agreed there was more to be done.
