THE Ospreys have gotten into the Christmas spirit by recording their own festive song.

Every day this month, in accordance with tradition, the region have been revealing something as part of an interactive Advent calendar via social media.

And December 14’s offering could be the most groundbreaking yet.

They tweeted: “It’s a very special Advent calendar today, our very own Christmas song! You’ll be singing this all day! You can keep your toys and miracles, this is all we want for Christmas. Don’t forget the #BIGONE Ospreys v Scarlets is on Saturday, December 22.”

Despite it being the season of good cheer, the Liberty Stadium couldn’t resist a bit gentle ribbing of their West Wales rivals Scarlets, who they face just before Christmas.

Entitled All I Want, the lyrics start: “Don’t need a lot for Christmas, just one thing will do, you can keep your toys and miracles, Santa – keep him too. I just want to beat the Scarlets, what a present that would be, it’s all we want for Christmas, back at the Liberty.”

The video on Youtube credits the music and lyrics to Morgan.

The first verse continues: “I know we met not long ago and it didn’t go so well, there was blood and sweat and tears poured out, Halfpenny gave us hell.

“But we’re taking it back this December, just you wait and see.

“It’s all we want for Christmas, back at the Liberty.”

After some sha-la-las, and to the obligatory tune of sleigh bells, the chorus includes: “We’re coming for you Scarlets, we’re taking the win back home!”

The video has received a less than festive response on Twitter.

Huw Waghorn replied to the Ospreys tweet to say: “Oh no, really? How could anyone ever think this was a good idea?!”

The Rugby Club tweeted an image of a Google search saying “how to delete someone esle’s tweet”, while Davo tweeted: “The cringe is strong in this one”.

The Scarlets are yet to respond to the song on social media.

The Ospreys are not the only locals hoping for a hit this Christmas.

A group of firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, including crew members from Swansea Bay, have released a version of Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas?

Known as The Fire Tones, the 40 firefighters recorded the song with the blessing of Bob Geldof.
