MAKE A LIGHT-UP SNOWMAN

-

YOU WILL NEED:

A battery-powered tealight Some cotton wool Thin black card A toilet roll tube Black paint and a brush A black marker pen Glue (Pritt stick works well for this project) Short lengths of ribbon Coloured card and glitter

METHOD

1. Take your battery-powered tealight and glue all around the sides. Do not glue the top or the back. Pritt stick works well if you apply a fairly thick layer.

2. Tease some cotton wool ‘snow’ onto the glued surface. Allow to dry.

3. Draw on some coal eyes and a coal mouth with your black marker.

4. Your snowman will need a ring of card to sit in to keep him upright.

Cut a section of toilet roll tube about 2cm in height to make a ring. Paint the ring black inside and out and leave to dry. 5. To make the snowman’s hat, take a strip of card, approximately 10cm x 3cm and fold it to make a cylinder (see picture). Use tape or glue to secure the join. Next draw around a circular object and cut out to make a disc of card for the hat’s brim. 6. Glue the cylinder of the hat onto the brim. Leave to dry. 7. Cut a thin strip of felt to make the ribbon for the hat. Glue it in place.

Allow to dry before you glue the hat onto the snowman’s head. 8. Next take the black toilet roll ring and glue a length of ribbon on to make a scarf. 9. Use thin card and glitter to add any features you might like. 10. Fill up your snowman’s hat with cotton wool or wadding. 11. When he is completely dry, you can sit the snowman in his scarf, turn on the tealight and the nose will glow. 12. Turn your snowman off if you are leaving him unattended.
