Choir gets vocal in bid to attract new singers

-

GLYNNEATH male voice choir Côr Meibion Glynnedd is inviting anybody who enjoys a bit of a singsong to get in touch.

The choir is made up of rugby supporters young and old, and other locally based men from the Vale of Neath and beyond.

Chairman Huw Watkins said the choir’s main aim is for choristers to enjoy themselves rather than to be under pressure from competitions or delivering top-quality performances.

“While we strive to sing as best we possibly can, we are not expert singers by any stretch of the imagination!” he said.

“Singing in a large group is nothing like singing on your own, and people can be reassured that they will not be heard individually, but that their voices will blend in and add to the collective sound of the choir.”

Mr Watkins added: “In terms of commitment, choristers are only expected to turn up to practice nights when they are available, so that shift workers and others with various commitments will be welcomed whenever they can make it.

“There is no pressure in terms of attendance.”

A new year begins after the choir’s annual concert, which is to be staged at the Glynneath Town Hall tonight at 7pm. ■ For more details, call Huw Watkins on 07940 000017 or Del Morgan on 01639 722300.
