Six back in contention for Swans

-

SWANS boss Graham Potter can welcome back a host of stars for today’s trip to Preston.

Oli Mcburnie, Wilfried Bony, Jefferson Montero, Declan John, Joel Asoro and Cameron Carter-vickers are all in contention for the clash with Preston after recovering from a sickness bug.

The Swans will once again be without long-term absentee Martin Olsson while the game comes too early for central midfielder Tom Carroll who is expected to return to training on Monday.

Midfielder Ben Pearson is available for the hosts having served a fourmatch ban after picking up his second red card of the season against Sheffield Wednesday last month.

The Lilywhites will also be able to select new recruits Jayden Stockley, Brad Potts, Josh Ginnelly and Connor Ripley.

And in a further boost for Alex Neil’s side, Alan Browne, Sean Maguire, Brandon Barker and Josh Earl are all in contention to feature having stepped up their recoveries from injury of late.

Goalkeeper Declan Rudd and captain Tom Clarke are likely to return having been rested for the FA Cup defeat to Doncaster last weekend, but Callum Robinson, Billy Bodin and Josh Harrop are all unavailable.

Potter is expecting a tough clash. “It will be the opposite of easy, knowing Alex and the game we had here at home, where we won 1-0, but were fortunate to get a win to be honest and a draw would probably have been a fair result,” said Potter.

“Their second-half performance was a good one and, on another day, it’s a different scoreline.

“Billy [Reid] knows Alex well and I have a lot of respect for his team and how they play, the type of mentality they bring to the game.

“We are expecting a very tough game.”
