Potter ‘weighing up bid for Chelsea youngster Scott’

SWANSEA City are weighing up a loan move for Chelsea youngster Kyle Scott, according to reports.

Football Insider claims the highly-rated attacking midfielder has rejected a switch to Serie B side Ascoli after discussing a move earlier this month.

It’s claimed the 21-year-old would prefer a move to the UK, having spent the first half of the season with Dutch outfit SC Telstar, where he scored two goals in 14 apperances.

A number of Championship sides are apparently interested in taking him on, including Swansea, with boss Graham Potter keen on strengthening his attacking options for the second half of the season.

Scott came through the ranks at Stamford Bridge after arriving from Southampton 11 years ago, and made his debut for the club against Hull City last season.

However, first-team opportunities have proved hugely limited for the Englishman, and a move to the Championship could prove tempting.

In contrast, one man that looks increasingly unlikely to be making the move to SA1 is Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne.

Reports from Scotland have suggested that champions Celtic have ended their interest in the Belgian, having been put off by the alleged £10 million price tag.

That valuation would also be beyond the Swans, who were initially believed to be interested in taking the 23-year old on loan.

However, given the number of options available to boss Potter at right-back, it’s believed that the Swans are unlikely to make an offer of any kind this month.

Meanwhile, The Sun claim the club are still reportedly in for former forward Nelson Oliveira (left), but will need to get at least one of their big earners off the books first.

According to The Sun’s journalist Alan Nixon, Swansea remain keen but would first have to get rid of one of their big earners to make it happen. In a tweet, Nixon said: “Swansea keen. But need a big wage out before get serious.”

Wilfried Bony remains in the shop window, having previously been linked with a move to Turkish giants Besiktas, but it’s understood there are no offers currently on the table for the Ivorian.

Both Jefferson Montero and Daniel James have been mentioned as possible targets for Championship leaders Leeds United, with James touted as the subject of a possible £2.5 million bid and Montero believed to be a loan target for Marco Bielsa’s side.

But there has not been any approach for the duo, or indeed any other player at the club so far.
