INDIE ROCK TITANS’ GIG IN THE PARK
INDIE Rock titans Foals have announced that they will headline Swansea’s Singleton Park next summer.
The gig, on Friday, June 4, is an extra Welsh date and will take place the night before the band’s rescheduled Cardiff Castle gig on Saturday, June 5, which had to be postponed from being held in July due to coronavirus.
Robert Francis-davies, Swansea Council’s cabinet member for investment, regeneration and tourism, said: “Last week we were pleased to announce that Olly Murs is to play at Singleton Park on Saturday, June 5 and today’s announcement that we will once again be working with The Depot to bring Foals to Swansea on June 4 is great news.
“We are doing our best to ensure that Swansea offers a really exciting events programme for next year and having these two great acts as a part of that, is a very welcome addition.
“This will provide a boost for our residents, tourism businesses and visitors to Swansea.
“We will of course ensure that any programme of activities is undertaken in accordance with the Government guidelines at that time; the safety of our residents, staff, partners and visitors is paramount.
“However, this is positive and encouraging news and we look forward to welcoming Foals to Singleton Park in 2021.”
From playing chaotic house parties in their home city of Oxford to becoming major festival headliners across Europe, Foals’ trajectory has been remarkable.
They have earned critical acclaim (NME and Q Award wins, plus Mercury Prize, Ivor Novello and Beit Award nominations) and fan devotion in equal measure. And while the majority of contemporaries have fallen by the wayside, Foals continue to hit new peaks.
Foals’ latest album, Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2 was released last October and became the band’s first to reach No.1 on the UK Albums Chart.
