CCTV captured car being driven off after collision
CCTV footage has captured the moment a car was driven into the back of a parked vehicle before reversing and being driven away.
The incident happened at 9.40pm on April 22 at Trefelin Crescent, in Port Talbot.
The owner of the Mercedes that was hit, who has asked not to be named, said she didn’t realise what had happened to her car until the following morning.
She then checked her CCTV and was left shocked after seeing the driver, who she said was also behind the wheel of a Mercedes, flee the scene.
“It’s so frustrating because there’s a claim now on my insurance for no fault of my own, I wasn’t in the vehicle, it was parked outside my property. The back bumper has split, the side panel damaged, all the light has been smashed.
“It’s a shame, I’m the innocent party, yet it’s my premium that will be hit, the person involved hasn’t had the decency to stop and knock the door. “
The 47-year-old said people in the area had heard the bump when the car collided with hers.
“There must be damage to their vehicle. You can hear the bump. We’ve got a page and people commented on there roughly about the time it happened, ‘did anyone hear that bang, sounds like a car hitting a car.’ I must have nodded off on the settee and didn’t hear it. I didn’t see it until the morning.
“I just want people to be aware that this is happening and people are getting away with it,” she
said.
A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “South Wales Police received a call at 9.54am on Friday, April 23, following a report of a car driving into a parked car on Trefelin
Crescent at around 9.40pm on Thursday, April 22.
