YOUR VIEWS ON: NEW BUILDING’S DESIGN

PEOPLE strongly disagree over the design of a new building unveiled on Oystermouth Road. You said:

GARY EVANS ‘Never drive down Oystermouth Road again’? Good. Less traffic on the road. Dear me, people are dramatic. It’s windows on a building that you spend one minute a day driving past. Chill out.

SARA EVANS How have they managed to create a new build with the look of a dilapidated and abandoned warehouse?

GERARD SIRON Goes well with the hideous bridge. Swansea can’t get anything right when it comes to aesthetic design. You know why? They get designers that have long ago been sent packing by the bigger cities. They are the dumping ground for designs and technologies that everybody else has already seen and dismissed after some trial.

PETRA HURFORD What was there before was disgusting, I drove past this yesteday and I thought the colour of the tiles worked really well with the bridge.

BARBARA DANIEL I quite like it. Like the brighter colours especially on the all too frequent rainy days.

SAM THOMAS How about waiting until the building, or better yet the whole area, has been developed. Passing comments on something that is still under construction. . .

ANDREW LEWIS It’s going to take some getting used to, at least it’s different and will probably become a landmark.

STEPHEN DONOHOE At least it’s different. It’s better than the post-war buildings we still have around our city centre.

AIDAN BIDDISCOMBE Now I like the bridge and the whole project but I hate to say I agree, what a weird choice in the colour of the tiling. Couldn’t there have been a better colour pallette?
