Pals pedalling length of UK in fundraising ride to aid prostate cancer charity

-

THIS time last year Jonathan Morgan was not a cyclist.

It’s not that he disliked the pastime, it was just something he didn’t do.

Fast forward 12 months and you could say he really has got the bug for cycling.

So much so that he and a team of five friends are on a fundraising ride from the most northern point in Scotland to the UK’S most southernly point at the tip of Cornwall.

In short, he’s getting on his bike and riding from John O’groats to Land’s End in aid of the cancer charity Prostate Cymru, raising £10,000 in the process.

The ride is dubbed Pedal4prostate and started on Thursday, May 20, and will cover more than 1,000 miles over nine days.

Thirty-one year-old Jonathan, from Neath, who is owner of the multibranched Peter Morgan Estate Agents, will be joined by friends and colleagues from a range of professions on the challenge.

Jonathan said the aim is to raise awareness around prostate cancer and to get men talking about it.

He added: “Our ride Pedal4prostate aims to help men in Wales by improving equipment for prostate treatments to ensure they have access to the best possible treatments available on the NHS.”

Joining Jonathan will be Rhodri Jervis, 24, from Neath, who is a BT Openreach engineer; Brian Stokes, 45, the managing director of ITCS – IT Support and Business Telecoms in Bridgend; 32-year-old solicitor Ben Garvey from Port Talbot, who is partner at David W Harris Solicitors in Swansea; Richard Wanklyn, 38, from Baglan, who is finance manager for Neath Port Talbot Council and Gareth John, 50, from Llanelli, who is director at Agent Pro Estate Agent Software.

They will have team support from friend Chris Davies.

Jonathan and the team have a dedicated Justgiving page where donations can be made, visit the site at www. justgiving.com/ crowdfunding/ pedal4prostate.
