Colts into bottom four after derby loss

PORT Tennant Colts dropped into the bottom four of division one of the Swansea Senior League after losing 4-1 at home to near neighbours Brynawel.

Long-serving Colts centre-forward James Barrett netted another goal but Brynawel came out on top thanks to goals from Jason Gardner, Shaun Hurford, Chakhri Phromchant­ha and Nicholas Palmer.

Rockspur continued their excellent league form with a 6-2 win over a Murton Rovers side that have won just twice in the league and sit just outside the relegation zone.

Matthew Hughes (2), Ryan Morgan, Sam Keefe, Connah Tory and Ashley Lewis scored for Rockspur and Tim Lewis and Marco Resteghini replied.

St Joseph’s lost their first league match of the season in a compelling seven-goal affair that saw Ynystawe Athletic claim top spot thanks to goals from Rhys Harris, Callum Howard, Sam Brown and Casey Coughlain.

Jack Price scored twice and a Liam Lynch penalty gave Saints hope, but Ynystawe now sit top ahead of this Saturday’s visit to face bottom team Waunarlwyd­d.

In the other game in division one, Sandfields are now six points from safety and still looking for their first points of the season after they lost 3-1 at home to Blaenymaes.

Ex-brunswick, Cwm Press and North End striker Marc Buckney scored for them, but Blaenymaes were thankful to Dylan Jones, Kieran Meredith and Nick Pritchard for the goals that moved them up to fifth.

In the only game in division two, Landore moved two points clear at the top after they swept aside Clase Social 6-3.

Chris Smith added another two goals to his collection, while Ricky Tait netted a hat-trick and Joshua Hodgson also scored.

In the first round of the Open Cup, the Cwm Level El Clasico between Cwmfelin Press and Cwm Albion Colts produced six goals – but they all went the way of the hosts Cwmfelin Press.

Cameron Prismick stole the show with four goals as Cwm Albion did really well to contain a Press side that have had lots of goals in them of late.

CRC Olympic avenged their earlyseaso­n defeat by FC Bonymaen with a 3-2 win thanks to goals by Rhys Whitelock, Jamie Dickerson and Jack Jenkins that sent the newly-formed club to their first loss of the season.

Ben Dennis and Dean Green scored for Bonymaen but it was not enough for a side who hit the bar, post and had to watch CRC Olympic keeper Dale Hulland pull off several great saves.

Maltsters Sports beat Union Rangers 5-1 though Rangers were much better than the scoreline suggests.

They were undone by the greater experience and familiairt­y of a Maltsters side that have played together for many years.

Chris Maunder, Kieran Healy, Nathan Brian and Tom Ogden scored for Sports, who will host Landore in round two. Rangers replied through a Shedrack Ekezie penalty,

Wern earned a home tie against Treboeth in round two after seeing off St Thomas Stars 5-0.

The goals came from Nathan Davies, Callum Griffiths (2), James Hughes and Jack Sullivan.
