All schools will be closed for the day - a bank holiday - as will council venues including recycling sites, the Guildhall, Grand Theatre, libraries, museums and community centres. Swansea Market will be shut.

The Civic Centre will be closed although Swansea’s book of condolence will be available there for people to sign on Monday.

Essential services in social services such as residential care and domiciliary care will continue, along with critical day care services where needed. Cremations and burials planned for Monday will also take place.

Many of the country’s large employers and retailers have announced they will be closed for the day. Cllr Rob Stewart, the leader of Swansea Council, said the authority joined the country in mourning the death of the Queen.

“As a mark of respect the council will be closing non-essential services on Monday to mark the late HM The Queen’s funeral and we are asking the public to be aware that the vast majority of our services will be closed for the day,” he said.

“We will continue to provide essential services to ensure vulnerable people are protected and our roads and transport services continue to operate.”

There will be no refuse collections in Neath Port Talbot on Monday 19 September including black bag and bin waste, nappies, absorbent hygiene products or garden waste.

These collections will be one day late next week. Normal collections will resume from Monday 26 th September.

In addition, there will be no recycling collections on Monday 19. These will be made on Monday 26th September instead, but from Tuesday 20 th September onwards recycling collections will remain as normal.

All council venues, including Port Talbot and Neath Civic Centres, recycling centres, libraries, public toilets and Neath Register Office will be closed to the public for the day, as well as all schools.

Margam Country Park car park and facilities will be closed but there will be access for pedestrian visitors. Margam Crematorium grounds will remain open to enable the public to visit graves and pay tributes to loved ones. No services had been scheduled due to essential maintenance work.

Ornamental Gardens and Memorial Parks in Neath Port Talbot will open as usual. The gates to Gnoll Estate Country Park will open and close at the usual times, but the visitor centre and toilets will be closed all day.

In Carmarthenshire, if your waste collection day is Monday, the collection will take place on Saturday, September 17 - this also affects garden, hygiene and nappy waste collections. Collections for the rest of the week will continue as normal.

Council recycling centres in Trostre, Llanelli, Nantycaws, near Carmarthen, Wernddu, Ammanford, and Whitland will all be closed on Monday.

Country parks and leisure centres will be open but restricted hours apply to leisure centres. Museums, libraries, theatres and archives will be closed.

Carmarthenshire Registration Office will be open on Monday for essential services. The crematorium in Llanelli is privately owned, so people will need to contact it and individual funeral directors.
