A nation says its goodbyes

Coverage of the Queen’s funeral will dominate TV schedules as beloved Monarch is laid to rest

AS thousands line the streets of London today for Her Majesty The Queen’s state funeral at Westminste­r Abbey, millions more will be tuning into events from across the world.

On the BBC, Huw Edwards and Fergal Keane will cover events from London. Kirsty Young and David Dimbleby will be in Windsor, and Sophie Raworth will broadcast from Parliament Square. Familiar faces Anita Rani and JJ Chalmers will also be reporting live.

They’ll be a special edition of Breakfast, followed by coverage of the funeral from 8am to 5pm, with the funeral itself starting at 11am. At 6.15pm there will be a special Our Queen Remembered version of The One Show. On ITV, Good Morning Britain will preview the funeral. From 9.30am, co-presenters Tom Bradby and Julie Etchingham will broadcast a special programme from Windsor, called Queen Elizabeth II: The State Funeral, which will guide viewers through the service, the mile-long military procession escorting the Queen through London, her final journey to Windsor and the committal service at St George’s Chapel. Rageh Omar and Mary Nightingal­e are also among the reporters.

At 7.30pm a documentar­y film – Queen Elizabeth II: A Nation Remembers will chronicle the events of the past 10 days. Then at 9pm, Queen Elizabeth II: The Final Farewell – will offer a look back at the day’s events.

Sky’s coverage will kick off at 5am with Kay Burley reporting live from Westminste­r Abbey, before Anna Botting and Dermot Murnaghan oversee the procession. From 7pm Mark Austin will recap the day.
