Giant-killers Hakin end Lido’s cup ambitions

A BRENNAN Devonald goal in the 87th minute earned Hakin United a famous Welsh Cup win over JD Cymru South side Afan Lido.

The unbeaten Pembrokesh­ire outfit were full value for their away victory.

Cwmbran Celtic came out on top 1-0 in the battle against fellow JD South club Ammanford. Dominic Connor grabbed the only goal in the 11th minute.

Chris Hibbert’s goal earned Gresford Athletic a 1-0 win at Llanidloes Town.

Hawarden Rangers held their nerve to beat Abermule 7-5 on penalties after both sides had failed to score in regulation time. Ben Davies was the Bow Street hero as he scored in the fifth minute of added time at the end of a cup thriller against Bangor 1876 to earn his side a 6-5 victory.

The home side scored three goals in the opening 27 minutes and were 4-2 up at the break. Bangor cut the gap with a Tom Clarke strike three minutes into the second half before Tomos Roberts made it 5-3.

A Corrig Mcgonigle penalty in the 89th minute levelled the scores at 5-5. Then Davies took centre stage to win it at the death.

There was more drama in North Wales as JD North side Conwy Borough beat Kimmel Bay FC 3-2.

A first-half goal from Bay’s Tate Walker gave them a lead they held until Craig Whelan struck for Conwy five minutes into the second half.

Anthony Jones gave Kimmel the lead for a second time before Sean Mccafferey replied three minutes later to make it 2-2 with nine minutes left.

Cory Williams then had a penalty to win it for the home side in the 93rd minute which he missed, before Cian Evans grabbed the winner in the 95th minute.

Llanelli Town beat Goytre 4-0. Eli Phillips. Tim Parker, Sean Cronin and Josef Hopkins scored, with Keane Watts enjoying a fine game.

Tom Hilditch took his goal tally for the season to seven as he fired Prestatyn Town to a comfortabl­e 3-0 victory at Machynllet­h.

The home side held their visitors until the break.

But Liam van Gelder broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half. Hilditch grabbed his goals in the 51st and 80th minutes.

Newly-promoted Porthmadog and Mold Alex went head to head in a thriller at Y Traeth Stadium before the visitors scraped through 4-3.

Two goals from Alex Boss in the opening half-hour gave the home side a blistering start, but Rhys Nash got one back before the break.

Callum Parry didn’t waste any time in making an impact after coming on as a half-time substitute as he made it 3-1 in the 54th minute, but a second from Nash a few minutes later kept Mold in the hunt.

Matthew Lewis drew things level in the 67th minute before Nash completed his hat-trick to complete the fightback.

Cardiff Corries are loving life in cup competitio­ns this season with their 6-0 victory at Treowen Stars taking their goal tally to nine in two rounds.

Add in the 16-0 win they enjoyed in the FAW Amateur Cup against Aberystwyt­h Exiles FC and they have scored 25 goals so far in three outings.

Trethomas Bluebirds comfortabl­y reached the next round with a 6-0 triumph at home over Ton Pentre. Charlie Loss scored twice for the hosts.
