Seventh heaven as Blaenymaes recover

-

BLAENAYMAES fought back from conceding in the opening two minutes to put seven past visiting Brynawel in the Swansea Senior League premier division.

Aled John opened the scoring for the visitors before Michael Hayes, who has been playing mainly reserve team football, levelled on 14 minutes and then put the hosts ahead seven minutes later thanks to great work by Dylan Jones.

Hayes turned provider when Nicholas Price made it 3-1, and Price in turn set up Jake Norman to make it 4-1 just before the break.

Polish striker Krystian Baniak got on the scoresheet after coming off the bench before Dylan Jones’s penalty and Kairon Cole extended Blaenymaes’s unbeaten run to four matches.

Port Tennant Colts need a solitary point in their final league match of the season away to Llangyfelach in order to clinch runners-up spot after a 1-1 draw with Plough Colts.

Charlie Wilkins came on as substitute put the visitors 1-0 up on 50 minutes before a last-minute equaliser from Ashley James enabled Port Tennant to hold onto their place in second spot.

If Waunarlydd win their next match away at Blaenymaes they will go second until Port Tennant Colts play their final match of the season.

Ther great escape is most definalty on for Ragged School who have now won their last three keague matches to climb out of the bottom two and put themselves two points above the relegation zone.

Despite going a goal behind to visiting Birchgrove Colts after three minutes to a Callum Davies goal, a pair of goals from Ben Israel, one in each half, allowed Ragged School to claim another vital win,

St Joseph’s beat Llangyfelach 2-1 to maintain their perfect record of not dropping a point all season long.

Ben Scannell missed a penalty on 32 minutes but opened the scoring on 44 minutes to give the visitors a 1-0 lead but goals from Liam Lynch and

Kyle Copp gave Saints the win which puts them 17 points clear of secondplaced Port Tennant Colts.

A winning goal by Jack Stock on 49 minutes gave Clase Social all three points on the road and sent Senior Cup finalists Treboeth United to the bottom of the table with just one match left – againt Llangyfelach – in order to maintain their top flight status.

In division two FC Bonymaen’s Ben Dennis helped himself to four goals and two assists as they cemented their place in third spot with one match left to play following an 8-1 win at Gors.

It means Dennis now has 18 in the last six matches. Further goals from Chirs Rees (2), Jason Gardner and

Ryan Forster ensured FC Bonymaen scored seven or more goals for the ninth time this season.

It was a superb weekend for the league champions and Gwalia Cup winners Penclawdd as their ladies team also were victorious in their final match of the season to claim their first silverware and the men’s team beat Kingsbridge Colts 7-1.

Ashley Johns helped himself to six of the seven Penclawdd goals as this became a very one-sided affair after Sam Lucas reduced the deficit to 2-1 on 30 minutes. Josh Gabriel got the hosts’ other goal.

Union Rangers went down 5-1 at home to Bonymaen Colts. An early penalty conceeded by Union Rangers in the fourth minute and put away by Anthony Clarke was the only goal of a first half. A defensive error allowed Davies to nip at the far post to make it 2-0 before Lee Johnson pounced in the penalty area to make it 3-0.

Shawn Abrahams fired home just after the kick-off before a pair of late goals from Davies saw him complete his hat-trick.
