Now the news, previews, and views you trust – 24 hours a day
WE are delighted to today announce the launch of our exciting new website - Visiter.co.uk
This 24-hour news channel covers areas including Southport, Formby, Ormskirk and Skelmersdale, which will be complemented by our growing social media channels such as @Visiter on Twitter and Southport Visiter and Ormskirk & Skelmersdale Advertiser pages on Facebook.
The vibrant new Visiter.co.uk site is brought to you by the publishers of the Southport Visiter, Midweek Visiter, Formby Times, Ormskirk Advertiser, Skelmersdale Advertiser and Crosby Herald.
Our newspapers are among the oldest in Britain. The Southport Visiter, founded in May, 1844, has been a family favourite among readers and visitors for over 170 years, while the Ormskirk Advertiser was not far behind, starting in 1853.
No business thrives, and stays so successful for so long, without continually innovating and meeting the ever-changing demands of our customers - in our case, our readers and our advertisers.
Today, people want to see news and sport as it happens. They want to see picture galler- ies as events take place. They want to see video footage. They want Live Blogs from major news events. They want to see fresh content updating constantly throughout the week, and throughout the weekend. They want to see journalists out and about in our community, where things are happening, not sitting in an office regurgitating press releases.
Readers want to be able to interact immediately through social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.
Local firms don’t want to wait for an office to open before they can do business. They want to be able to book adverts that will help their companies grow, which they can now do 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through our new website www. bookanad.com
Readers want news from a trusted, responsible news source; with well trained and experienced journalists; with reporters and advertising exec- utives who are local to the area, who are passionate about the region, and who will fight hard to improve its future.
We are launching Visiter. co.uk to respond to the needs of both readers and advertisers across the Southport, Formby and West Lancashire area, to become the first place that people turn to.
The new Visiter.co.uk website will offer greater choices for news and advertising for local people, as we also con- tinue to invest in our extensive series of long-established and well-respected free and paidfor newspaper titles.
We are determined to continue to bring you the best local news and sport, and to bring it to you first, and more comprehensively than any of our rivals.
Visiter.co.uk will also be ultra-local, with our comprehensive In Your Area section giving you the opportunity to keep up to date with news directly local to you, whether you live in Ainsdale, Skelmersdale, Formby, Burscough, Churchtown, Ormskirk, Tarleton, Kew, Birkdale, or other towns or villages in our region.
And our unbeatable What’s On content will provide everything you need to know what you are planning your free time – whether you are a fan of playing or watching sport, dining out, cooking at home, going to the theatre, spectating at major events such as Southport Air Show, Southport Flower Show or Ormskirk Motorfest, enjoying a night out, or relaxing at home with your iPad and looking to enjoy a great evening or weekend read.
Visiter.co.uk will provide a regular array of entertainment platforms to enjoy, listed right.
We hope you enjoy your new website – please click on it, scroll your way through, and see what you think.
