ASOUTHPORT woman is urging people to support a fundraising drive to take her three-year-old niece for urgent treatment in the US.

Emily Robinson made the plea to help Pippa Belle Cole, who has been fighting a cancerous brain tumour and has recently undergone brain surgery to remove it.

Now her family want to fly her to the US to receive Proton Beam Therapy.

Emily said: “I feel so passionately about promoting this campaign as without the help of others giving donations Pippa will not survive.

“She is an inspirational little girl who has gone through more in her three years than most of us will have to go through in a lifetime.”

Pippa’s parents Shell Howard and Scott Cole have seen a great response since they started their appeal on their GoFundMe page.

Their daughter was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour in July 2013, when she was just 18 months old.

She underwent several operations, including 10 hours of brain surgery and completed a 13 month intensive chemotherapy course which she started in August 2013, which left her hearing damaged.

The family was elated when the toddler was given the all-clear. But just three months later, the tumour was back.

Pippa has now undergone brain surgery once again, with doctors removing the second tumour.

Following four weeks of recovery her parents, who live in Garstang, now want to fly her to the US for Proton Beam Therapy treatment.

They are looking to raise more than £10,000 to make the trip possible.

They said: “Without this treatment Pippa will not survive. Because of the position of the tumour normal radiotherapy would cause considerable damage to Pippa’s brain.

“The NHS will fund the cost of the treatment but as a family we need to fund everything else.

“Unfortunately when Pippa’s Daddy is off work we will not get paid. We will be in America for between nine and 12 weeks.

“We have been told that this is Pippa’s only chance of survival.

“Pippa is having to fight extremely hard for her life but she amazes us with her bravery and strength.

“She is an inspiration to anyone who meets her.”
