Bees calls for major upturn

-

BURSCOUGH manager Mark Beesley says his side’s performances need to improve if they are to register their first win of the year.

Burscough narrowly lost 3-2 away to Scarborough Athletic on Saturday, a result which keeps Beesley’s side in fifteenth place in the Evo-Stik Division One North.

The Linnets last victory came against Kendal Town on December 20th and Beesley admits his side did not deserve to win at the weekend.

He said: “We could have maybe nicked a result but I was disappointed in our performance.

“In the last few games I think we’ve been unlucky with the results but Saturday wasn’t up to the sort of performances we’ve been putting in recently.

“When we drop off against the better teams we get punished. We suffered a few injuries in the game which wasn’t ideal but we can’t be using that as an excuse for the result.

“The conditions weren’t great but it’s the same for both teams. One positive we can take from the game is that we almost managed to pull back a two goal deficit but we gave ourselves too much to do early on in the game unfortunately.

“It sound obvious but if we can cut out the simple mistakes from our game we should start to see some positive results soon.”

Burscough’s next game is away at play-off chasing Farsley on Saturday.

The two sides met earlier in the season with Farsley winning 3-1, a result Beesley (pictutred) says was well deserved.

He said: “They’re definitely a good side, they beat us earlier in the season and they look really decent.

“They deserved the result against us so we know it’s going to be tough this time round.

“We’ll get the lads into training and try to improve some areas we’ve been struggling in. It’s up to us to improve the results and turn things around.”
