Gardens day to return next year

-

VISITORS enjoyed an afternoon of food, music and culture from around the world at the first International Day at King’s Gardens in Southport.

The event last Saturday (May 21) was one of several planned for the park this year by the enthusiastic Friends Of Kings Gardens group.

Friends publicity officer Denise Roney said: “Within a happy and relaxed atmosphere various stalls set their wares for sale.

“Folk from varying arrived, some to sing, distances some to dance or to play music – some of which had not been seen before, certainly not in the area of the gardens where we hold our events!

“The mandolin band was particularly interesting and certainly different, the sounds echoed across the gardens magnificently, creating a really atmospheric sound.

“As the day unfolded into a vibrant fun time the children in particular really enjoyed the various pastimes laid on, from face painting to competitions.

“Latvian Linda was spot on with her creations, as she was when she participated in the dancing.

“A great day for all and to those w who have asked: Yes! This event WILL be included in the Friends of Kings Gardens events calendar fo for next year!”
