TV star role for town hotel

-

A SOUTHPORT hotel will feature on a Channel 4 television programme next week.

The Baytrees Hotel, in Queens Road, is to appear on Steph And Dom’s One Star To Five Star on Monday, November 6.

In the programme, hoteliers Steph and Dom help “novice B&Bs and struggling hotels” try to achieve a five-star rating, in just five days.

On arrival at The Baytrees, they challenge the owners to offer an à la carte breakfast, make-over a bedroom with an affordable luxury theme, and put on a cocktail meet and greet event.

The 30-minute programme will also show the owners attempt to improve the hotel by refurbishing the bedrooms, lounge and dining room.

The hotel is owned by Ged, 58, and Caroline Clarke, 53.

The couple bought the hotel in May last year, and it is now managed by Caroline’s brother and his wife: Victor, 59, and Maria Foulds, 34.

The programme was filmed in September, and involved many independent Southport businesses.

Caroline, a former nurse, said: “Filming for the programme was great fun. Steph and Dom are really nice people, and the process was filled with nothing but laughs.”

The changes to the hotel implemented by the hoteliers have not gone unnoticed.

Caroline added: “We have had a lot of feedback from our customers.

“But I won’t say too much, because I don’t want to spoil it.”

The programme will air on Channel 4 at 5.30pm on Monday, November 6.
