Masters student Jennifer aims for Miss England win
A STUDENT from Southport is one of the 11 contestants competing in a Miss England heat.
Masters student Jennifer Amy Leigh, 23, who won the British Dyslexia Association Highly Commended Adult Award 2017, is taking part in the third heat of the competition for 2018.
This includes a public vote, and Jennifer will need help from the local community in order to secure her place in the Miss England semi-final, which will take place in June.
The public vote counts towards the result, with other judges – including the reigning Miss England 2017, Stephanie Hill – who will decide who is the most photogenic and most charitable contestant to go through.
The contestants in the semi-final will be invited to participate in a sports and eco fashion round, where they will create a wedding guest outfit made from recycled materials to celebrate the Royal Wedding, as well as raising funds for the Miss World charity Beauty with a Purpose.
Miss England national director Angie Beasley said: “The competition is much more than a physical beauty contest, the girls are encouraged to be charitable, sporty and an all-round good role model and have the opportunity to show off any special talents they may have.”
The ultimate winner of Miss England 2018 is expected to spend her year raising awareness for various charities, and will receive a whole host of prizes worth £25,000, including a luxury holiday and a place in Miss World which has a prize worth $100,000 (£73,800) for the international winner.
Miss England organisers say that more than £800,000 has been raised by contestants to help disadvantaged children around the UK in the past three years.
Jennifer needs help and support from the local community to help win the Miss England semi-final heat title.
To cast a vote for Jennifer, MISS SEMI07 to 63333 – all text votes cost 50p per message and lines close at noon on January 31, 2018.
