ASOUTHPORT man, who has been single for almost a decade, turned to a TV dating show to find love.

Phil Todd, a 45-year-old children’s entertainer at Trickys, was one of four men who came down the “love lift” on the first episode of Take Me Out, series 10.

Host Paddy McGuinness returned with a fresh line-up of 30 “flirty” women, all hoping to be whisked away to the Isle of Fernando’s with their dream date.

Phil, the second to appear on the show, came down the lift to I Like The Way You Move by the Body Rockers – to which 13 girls immediately turned off their light.

The next round involved playing a video, in which Phil got to share some more information about himself.

During the video, Phil said: “You could say I am Southport’s most eligible bachelor.”

He also referred to himself as a “party animal”, and added: “I’m the first on the dancefloor, and the last to leave.”

After the third and final round, in which Phil performed three magic tricks, only one girl – Bella – had kept her light on, meaning he had secured himself a date.

She said that she kept her light on because Phil looked like he has fun all of the time, and the pair left the building to enjoy their first date in the Isle of Fernando’s.

Unfortunately, it seems as though the pairing may have been by accident, as Bella admitted to the host afterwards: “I was so caught up in his magic that I forgot to press my buzzer.”

Phil said: “I wanted to have fun and a good laugh, I had no expectations, I thought that if I found the love of my life it could be an added bonus.”

Phil was really pleased with his pairing with Bella, but said that he had the idea that she may have not meant to keep her light on from her reaction at the end of the show.

If things don’t work out with Bella, however, it seems as though Phil should have no problems in finding himself another date.

He said: “Social media has gone crazy, I have had several offers of dates if it doesn’t work out with Bella in Fernando’s.

“I had gained hundreds of followers, and there have been lots of comments.”

The episode aired on Saturday, January 7 at 7pm and is still available to view on the ITV Hub.

To find out just how Phil got on with his date in the Isle of Fernando’s, tune in to ITV on Saturday at 7pm.
