Salsa fans take steps to help hospice

-

MEMBERS of the Southport Salsa Collective brought cheer to Queenscourt Hospice when they made a donation of £500.

Southport Salsa Collective is run by a group of regular dancers and was formed in January 2017 following the retirement of the Salsa Palante teachers.

The group continues to hold classes at West Lancashire Yacht Club on Monday nights.

It is run by volunteers on a not for profit basis for the love of dance.

The funds are used to buy equipment, pay for guest teachers and guest DJs for special party nights and also to make donations to charity. This year’s designated charity was Queenscourt Hospice.

One of the members said: “Queenscourt Hospice is in the heart of many of our dancers and we wanted to support them as much as possible.

“Queenscourt Hospice will be holding a special dance fundraiser in 2018 and the collective will be working with them in order to raise as much money as possible.”

Lucy Smith from Queenscourt said: “I was delighted to meet the collective, they’re a wonderfully friendly group and their enthusiasm for community and fundraising shines through!

“We are so grateful they chose Queenscourt as their charity.

“Thank you so much to everyone involved for your support.”
