ABUNGLING burglar who once knocked himself out on a plant pot is again wanted by the police.

Merseyside police are appealing for help to find Gerard Sanders, 34, in connection with a burglary at a home in Birkdale in August 2017.

Sanders, described as white, slim, 6ft 2in, with light brown hair and blue eyes, has also been recalled to prison for failing to comply with the terms of his licence.

The notorious offender is well known for once knocking himself out on a plant pot after jumping out of a window in Formby.

In July, 2010, a 64-year- old man was weeding the front garden of his home in Andrew’s Close when a neighbour spotted a man jumping over a back fence and entering the back of the house.

After being alerted, the owner went back into his house and up the stairs to search for the intruder, until Sanders decided to escape by leaping from the bedroom window.

The man and his neighbour discovered Sanders lying on the driveway, and immediately contacted the emergency services.

Sanders, who has a lengthy criminal record, woke to find himself surrounded by police officers and was arrested at the scene before spending the night in hospital.

He later pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and burglary.

Sentencing him at Liverpool Crown Court to 12 months in prison, Judge Robert Warnock told him: “You are a young man, it is up to you how you want to spend your life.

“If you don’t change your ways, life for you will consist of being behind bars for quite some time.”

Sanders, most recently of Utting Avenue, Anfield, was jailed once again for 40 months at Liverpool Crown Court in December 2015, this time in relation to various burglary offences, including one in Cromer Road, Birkdale.

Anyone who has seen Sanders or anyone matching his description is asked to contact Merseyside police on 101 or the Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
