Caldy climb back to the top

-

CALDY are back on top of Division Two, leapfrogging Northop Hall with a 44-run win over the Welshmen.

The Wirral side managed 195 all out, thanks largely to Alex Risk’s 43, while James Hurlin took 5-67.

In reply, Jamie Hodgson’s 50 was the best Hall response as Lloyd Eastham and Piushan Gamekankanamge took four wickets each.

Southport Trinity edged out Old Xaverians with a thrilling onewicket win at The Rookery.

Aussie paceman Luke Falkiner was the star with the bat as his unbeaten 22 saw Trinity over the line, despite Mark Doyle’s 5-32. Earlier, Xavs had collapsed from 94-3 to 139 all out.

Sutton scored a 100-run win over Spring View, with half-centuries from Jamie Greener and Jack York underpinning their total of 243-9, as Lewis Matthews took 5-65.

The Wigan side had no answer to Joe Smith, whose 7-23 destroyed their line-up after a solid start.

Alder’s losing streak continued with a 41-run defeat to Parkfield Liscard.

Greg Coogan’s 5-59 had helped restrict the Wirral side to 180-8, with Muhammad Ghafoor hitting 62, but Joshua Courtney’s 5-54 made it nine defeats out of nine for the West Derby side.

Jack Cosgrove was the star with the ball for Hightown St Mary’s as they saw off Maghull. His 6-48 dismissed the hosts for 147, before Arslan Dar’s 76 saw his side home by seven wickets.
