THE final few shows of the biggest ever Southport Comedy Festival take place over the next few days.

Dozens of Britain’s top comedians have been in Southport this month with gigs – many of them sold out – held all over town.

People have loved seeing top TV names such as Phill Jupitus, Jimeoin and Phil Nichol.

But the good news is that there are still some gigs left before the grand finale this Sunday.

Southport Comedy Festival is in its eighth year and is organised in conjunction with Southport BID, a partnership which has allowed it grow from its original eight-day span and add a wider range of events, such as the Comedy Bingo evening and the New Comedian Competition.

Festival organiser Brendan Riley said: “The festival brings thousands and thousands of people into town at a time of the year when there’s not much else happening.

“Because we get such great sponsors involved, we can keep ticket prices really low and then people do want to come out.”
