Police plea over OAP bike horror

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 73-year-old man was knocked from his bicycle in Southport.

The incident occurred at a roundabout on the junction of Park Crescent and Park Avenue, near Hesketh Park, on Friday. Police received a call at about 9.25am reporting a collision between a car and the pensioner’s bicycle.

A force spokesman said the driver failed to stop and drove away, possibly down Park Crescent, and inquiries are ongoing to identify the car and driver. The car is described as turquoise, but the make and model is unknown.

PC Kurt Timpson, from the Matrix roads policing unit, said: “We would encourage anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward, as we need to identify the car and driver involved.”
