Race night and car boot sale raise hun­dreds for cen­tre

HES­KETH Bank Com­mu­nity Cen­tre would like to thank ev­ery­one who took part in its Oc­to­ber fundrais­ing events.

The cen­tre held an ar­ti­san mar­ket and car boot sale on Oc­to­ber 14 and an­nual fun Race Night on Oc­to­ber 20.

Steve Kirby, chair­man of the com­mu­nity cen­tre, said: “The cen­tre is rais­ing funds for an am­bi­tious plan to re­de­velop the site. made So far our events and ac­tiv­i­ties have raised over £4,000, but we still have a very long way to go.”

He added: “It was the first time we have done the ar­ti­san mar­ket and car boot sale and it was very well re­ceived, with peo­ple com­ing from Skelmers­dale and Burscough to buy and sell cards, knit­ting, quilt­ing, bird ta­bles, plants and flow­ers.

“We have al­ready been asked to run an­other and so hope to get some more dates in the di­ary soon.”

Lo­cal busi­nesses that spon­sored the Race Night were: H Ed­mond­son car sales, New­land & Wilkin­son funeral di­rec­tors, John­son’s butch­ers, David Burns jew­ellers, Top Shop newsagents and The NAAZ In­dian restau­rant.
