Sea cadets make it a month to remember
IT WAS a busy November for Southport Sea Cadets, as they dominated regional swimming competitions then took part in a parade at Trafalgar Square.
The cadets won the North West Lancashire District swimming competition, then went on to the Area Swimming competition where they achieved further success.
Nikki Fell, PR officer for the cadets, said: “Southport Sea Cadets not only won the North West Lancashire
District swimming competition, they then went on to smash the Area Swimming competition in Blackpool.
“Our cadets brought home five gold, five silver and four bronze medals.
“They competed against 50 different sea cadets units and over 150 other cadets.
“We are very proud of all of them, all their hard work and training for this event certainly paid off. But most importantly, each and everyone of them had so much fun.”
The sea cadets were also proud to see six of their members take part in a very special Trafalgar Square parade.
Nikki said: “Six Southport cadets took part in the National 2018 Trafalgar Parade in London, three of them performing in a PT display in Trafalgar Square and three others took part in the parade through London, including a march past Buckingham Palace.
“The event was fantastic to watch and it’s a massive achievement for those cadets who took part.
“We at Southport Sea Cadets are extremely proud of them.”
