THE next Constructi­on Club takes place on Saturday, December 15 at The Atkinson between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Young inventors, creators and builders are invited to drop in and play with The Atkinson’s massive supply of Lego.

Founded in Denmark in 1932, the name Lego was created by taking the first two letters of the Danish words “leg godt”, meaning play well.

The iconic building blocks are part of so many people’s childhoods all over the world.

In 1998, Lego was one of the original toys to be inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame.

Ages five plus. Children under 12 must be accompanie­d by an adult.

Constructi­on Club takes place once a fortnight.

THE Art of Noise exhibition runs at The Atkinson until Saturday, March 16 2019.

The Art of Noise is an exhibition of paintings and sculpture drawn from The Atkinson’s collection linking art and music in innovative ways.

Experience and create music inspired by the visual arts, featuring music from Vaughan Williams and Wagner to the Beatles and Neil Young, and paintings and sculpture by major artists including Laura Knight, Paul Nash and Richard Hamilton.

THERE will be a Tea Dance at The Atkinson, Southport on Monday, December 17 between 1.30 and 3.30pm.

An afternoon of live entertainm­ent provided by Sefton Opera (Sefton Older Persons Enabling Resource & Action) features Elvis, music from bands Memory Lane and Remember When and a variety of jawdroppin­g dance routines from The Bootle Belles, aimed at the over-50s, with plenty of chance to get up and dance too!

Tea dances are held once a month in The Atkinson’s Studio.
