Wareing hits out in TV show ‘fix’ row
SOUTHPORT chef Marcus Wareing has spoken out to deny claims that the BBC MasterChef show is fixed.
The celebrity chef issued the response to claims from fans that an unfair decision was made in the semi-final of MasterChef: The Professionals.
The chefs faced a cookoff against each other in the MasterChef kitchen as judges set a simple brief to create a single dish which draws inspiration from a place that is special to them.
For Matthew Ryle, his time on MasterChef ended after his braised turbot was called “simple” by the judges.
But fans of the show have called the programme a “disgrace” after the 24-year-old’s tearful departure.
One fan even said she no longer wanted to watch MasterChef because of the judge’s decision.
Another said: “You allow viewers to get invested in a brilliant young chef as he leads the pack over multiple rounds, and then kick him out for one dish? Bad TV, and undermines your title’s credibility.”
Fans comments forced judge Marcus to deny claims that this year’s final show was a fix.
The Michelin-starred chef wrote: “I really do need to put something out there MasterChefUK is not a fix, trust me.
“We can only judge the dish put in front of us, we love these guys as much as you do, it’s not a personality contest it’s a cooking competition at the highest level...”
