Man stabbed by pair in street attack
POLICE are looking for two knifemen dressed in black after a man in his 20s was stabbed in the chest.
The victim flagged down police officers in Bath Street, Southport, at around 9.05pm on Saturday night after being attacked.
He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Merseyside police said that two men dressed in black are reported to have run from the scene.
Detectives want to speak to anyone with information, or who witnessed this incident or the suspects running away.
Det Insp Mike Dalton said: “It initially appears that this was a targeted attack, and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to find out exactly what happened.
“This would have been shocking to witness and it is through luck alone that the man wasn’t even more seriously hurt or killed.
“Nobody in the community wants violence where they live and we all have a part to play in tackling knife crime.
“Were you in Bath Street last night around 9pm and saw or heard anything? Do you have home CCTV, were passing with dashcam, or have heard anything locally since then which suggests who was responsible?
‘‘Come forward as soon as you can and we will act on all information provided to find those responsible and put them before the courts.
“The consequence of using knives on our streets can be catastrophic for everyone involved and I would urge anyone with information to do the right thing, and help us remove these threats from our streets.”
Anyone with information should call Merseyside police on 101 with reference 19100026853 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
