-

A 13-YEAR-OLD girl was seriously injured in a hit-and-run quad bike attack at a park.

Alex Watt was airlifted to Alder Hey Children’s

Hospital with a broken femur and fractured knee after being hit by the off-road vehicle at around 3pm on Sunday.

Paramedics manipulated the Tarleton Academy pupil’s leg back into place at the scene and later underwent surgery in hospital.

The incident happened on the football pitches at Aveling Drive in Banks.

The quad bike, a green Honda Fourtrax, was abandoned at the scene and taken away for forensic examination and it is believed that the offenders were aged about 15.

According to Alex’s mum, Emma Watmore, the quad bike has regularly been seen being ridden around the village and she hopes that someone can identify the group responsible.

She said: “My daughter was on the field with three of her friends. There was some lads on a quad bike all over fields messing about doing skids.

“They rode at my daughter and her friends and a couple jumped out the way but Alex couldn’t and she got hit.”

Writing on Facebook, the Alex’s sister, Amy, said:

“Does anyone know of anyone who owns a quad bike or has access to one?

“My sister is the girl who got injured by some boys on a quad from ran over by them and now she has been rushed to hospital to be operated on as they have broken and fractured her leg.

“Please if anyone has any information or seen 4 lads wearing all black and looking suspicious please let us know so we can find out who’s done this to her.”

A Lancashire police spokesman said: “We are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who has any information re: the owner of this quad bike to contact 7176@lancashire. pnn.police.uk and quote log no. LC-20190127-0878 or dial 101.”
