FLORAL tributes have been left in Marshside in memory of 20-year-old Adam Seaton. The Edge Hill University student had been missing from his Marshside home since Thursday, August 9 and a widespread campaign for information had carried on ever since.

But police last week confirmed that a body found in the Ribble Estuary by a dog walker on Friday, January 18 was Adam’s.

In a statement, the force said there was nothing to suggest there were anything suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and the matter was referred to the coroner.

Adam’s disappearance had been felt all over the town, with posters placed in business all over Southport and various volunteer search parties set up around the marshland areas.

Within minutes of the news of the discovery being made public, hundreds of people had sent messages of condolence and support to Adam’s family and friends. Floral tributes and messages have also been left at the RSPB car park in Marshside, where Adam’s car was found one day after his disappearance.

Among the many to offer their condolences, Caroline Plant said: “Deepest condolence to Adam’s family at this very sad time, everyone had hope that he would come home but not this way. R.I.P Adam you will be sadly missed.”

Sinclair Hesketh d’Albuquerque added: “Very sad to hear this. There is no way his family and friends could have done any more to let the people of Southport know he was missing in the hope of finding him, his face was everywhere. Thoughts with his family at this sad time.”

Moira Kent wrote: “I taught Adam. He was a joy to have in the classroom. Rest in peace Adam. My thoughts are with your wonderful family who have been examples of love, dignity and hope throughout the long months.”

A spokesman for Edge Hill said: “The university offers its sincere condolences to Adam’s family and friends and we will continue to do everything we can to help and provide support during this difficult time.”
