Bispham Road shop open again

-

THE last of Queenscourt’s shops to reopen is now back in action and offering a warm welcome to customers old and new, who are helping to keep Queenscourt in service by shopping with us.

Bispham Road offers shoppers a variety of items at discount prices, in a friendly and Covid-safe store.

While our other shops started to reopen for business in July, our Bispham Road store became a temporary donation station, but we are delighted to say it has now reverted back to a discount store, packed full of bargain items, and in perfect time to start your Christmas shopping!

With the festive season only three months away, now is the time to start planning ahead and with all our shops now open, stocking up on Queenscourt Christmas cards and gifts couldn’t be easier.

Why not pop into one, or all, of our shops and see what we have to offer, as that unique gift you’ve been searching for could be waiting for you.

As we get closer to December, keep an eye out for festive fancy dress costumes, Christmas jumpers and that special outfit for a Covid-compliant gathering you may be attending – you never know what you may find in store as stock is updated regularly.

Our shops are an important part of the Queenscourt community and play a vital role in generating income for the hospice. All of Queenscourt’s shops closed in March when the Government instructed non-essential stores to shut.

The first shop to re-open was our Churchtown store, which was closely followed by our other shops at Chapel Street in Southport, Liverpool Road North in Burscough, our Formby shop and now our Bispham Road discount store. Sadly, we have not been able to reopen all of our shops. The premises that we have in Tarleton and Ormskirk cannot adequately meet the necessary Covid-19 safety requirements and still generate a profit for Queenscourt.

Customers can be assured that our stores offer a safe shopping experience.

Our retail team have worked hard behind the scenes to ensure that our shops are Covid-19 safe and have put into place appropriate measures to ensure that all donations we receive are adequately quarantined before being put out for sale.

Our Churchtown shop in Cambridge Road is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9am until 4.30pm while all the others are open between 10am and 3.30pm, Tuesday-Saturday.

Due to the high volume of donations we are receiving, and the need to adequately quarantine all items before selling them, we have had to restrict when and where we can accept donations at present, particularly following the closure of the donation station.

We are only able to take donations in our Chapel Street, Burscough and Bispham Road shops on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 12pm, until we reach full capacity, at which point we will have to temporarily decline further donations.

We cannot accept donations at our Churchtown and Formby shops at present.

Sue Newth, Queenscourt’s Area Retail Manager, said: “We are delighted that our Bispham Road discount store is now open again, alongside our four other shops.

“It has been wonderful to welcome back some familiar faces and we look forward to meeting many new customers over the coming months.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on Queenscourt’s ability to fundraise, with several of our major events and initiatives cancelled this year because of the restrictions. This has resulted in our fundraising income falling by almost two thirds.

“All of us at #teamqueenscourt are grateful to those of you who have continued to support Queenscourt throughout these difficult times and we are now asking that you continue that support by visiting your local Queenscourt shop and discovering the bargains we have in store for you.”

While Queenscourt’s shops have been closed for several months, our eBay site has remained open for business throughout the pandemic.
