Group can help more families
A SOUTHPORT-based charity has been awarded funding which will allow them to offer children a specialised therapy-led development programme, which will help them to gain the confidence to make the right decisions in the future.
Funding has been awarded to Parenting
2000 by the Youth Endowment Fund, an independent charitable trust set up by the Home Office. It funds, supports and evaluates projects in England and Wales which work to prevent children and young people from being drawn into violent crime.
The service will be able to deliver a bespoke online Zoom-based programme to create resilience in children and young people aged 10-14. This will be provided through Parenting 2000 Project Manager and Therapeutic Lead Claudia Aldersley, with a team of eight therapeutic counsellors.
Children and young people will be offered an extended series of one-to-one counselling sessions. There will also be a therapy-led creative group.
Those taking part will develop an understanding of how their mind and thought patterns work which will give them the knowledge and tools to overcome barriers to resilience and wellbeing.
Parenting 2000 Chief Executive Janine Hyland said: “We are delighted that The Youth Endowment Fund has chosen to support our project.
“Our project is designed to enable children and young people to make better life choices which will in turn protect them against becoming involved in criminal activities and stop them from being vulnerable to predators with criminal intent.”
