Distant Lights of Love appeal!

-

NOVEMBER will see the launch of our annual Lights of Love Appeal, which last year raised around £19,000 for Queenscourt.

As in previous years, the appeal will see the hospice’s trees illuminated with lights dedicated to loved ones throughout December and January. You are invited to honour and celebrate the life of someone special by dedicating a light and making a donation.

With our expertise in care and your generous donations, together we can help patients achieve the best possible quality of life. Your support makes such a difference – more than ever in 2020 as we face the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic.

By taking part in our Lights of Love appeal, you are helping us to continue caring for local people in West Lancashire, Formby and Southport, Merseyside when they need us the most.

Sadly this year, because of Covid-19 restrictions, we will not be able to stage our Lights of Love Services, which in 2019 were held at Christ the King School in Southport and Parish Church in Ormskirk and attracted over 400 people. We will, however, be producing a virtual pre-recorded Lights of Love Service showing the annual lights switch on at the hospice which will feature poems and readings from members of teamqueenscourt.as well as appearances from special guest singers.

This will be available via a link on our website from Friday, November 27 – www.queenscourt.org.uklights

One aspect of the appeal which will be making a return following last year’s positive feedback, will be its virtual’ dimension. This involves the virtual Lights of Love tree, where supporters can share a photo of their loved one, and also offers the opportunity for supporters to create their own virtual tree for someone they love and use it to fundraise for Queenscourt.

You can dedicate a light on our virtual Lights of Love tree by visiting www.queenscourt.org.uklights. However if you prefer to, you can contact our Fundraising Team on 01704 517420 to donate over the phone and dedicate a light in the name of someone you love, and by doing so, help to Keep Queenscourt in Service.

We also welcome support from local businesses, community organisations and groups of friends who might want to dedicate a light and support Queenscourt at the same time.

Dianne Gillespie, event fundraiser, said: “There can be no doubt that 2020 has been an extremely challenging year for teamqueenscourt with everyone at the hospice, and all our supporters, doing their utmost to Keep Queenscourt in Service.

“Our fundraising income has dropped dramatically because of Covid-19, and the subsequent restrictions, which meant we had to cancel our main fundraising events this year.

“By taking part in our Lights of Love Appeal 2020 you can celebrate the life of someone dear to you, and raise much-needed funds for Queenscourt at the same time.
