Club and school join forces in partnershi­p

SOUTHPORT Football Club have announced a new partnershi­p with Southport school Christ the King Catholic High School & Sixth Form Centre.

The programme will involve full time post-16 education provision alongside training with UEFA qualified coaches at CTK6 and Southport FC will deliver the coaching and playing aspects. The team will play in the English College League or National League U19’s depending on ability and ll students will be provided with a Southport FC & CTK6 branded tracksuit, training, and match kit which they will wear when attending CTK6. The courses will also be tailored to everyone’s needs and interests.

Head of Operations James Tedford said: “We had been approached by many private providers of BTEC sports scholarshi­ps. However, after meeting with Mrs Wheeler, headteache­r and Miss Cunningham, the new director of sixth form and Miss Plummer, head of sport & personal developmen­t, it was clear that CTK6 is a student focused establishm­ent that has the ability to diversify the course to meet every prospectiv­e student’s needs”

Christ the King Catholic High School and Sixth Form Centre said: “It is a very exciting time for us as a Sixth Form Centre as we launch our newly developed Sixth Form provision ‘CTK6’. This was another opportunit­y for us to deliver a programme that allowed us to engage with our much-loved community and meet the needs of our students. We are really excited to work with Southport Football Club and can’t wait to see what the partnershi­p brings.”
