Man sent former boss sexually explicit texts after she sacked him

- BY LAUREN WISE

AMAN sent a series of vulgar texts to his ex-boss after she sacked him. Jamie Corbett was employed at Acacia Court care home in Southport before losing his job.

The 30-year-old then sent a series of sexually explicit messages to the woman who terminated his employment, who the Visiter has chosen not to name.

The messages were sent between April 17 and August 3 last year.

Corbett appeared at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court where he was sentenced for harassment.

Michael O’Kane, prosecuting, said: “The content was intended to cause high distress to the victim.

“The victim had terminated his employment.”

Mr O’Kane explained the messaging “took place over a prolonged period”.

The court heard he had begun by sending several wave emojis to the woman before descending into texts of an explicit nature.

Magistrates confirmed they did not wish to hear the messages read out in open court.

The court heard Corbett has previous convictions but none is similar to these offences.

Paul Kilty, defending, said: “The messages were sent from his account therefore he accepts responsibility.”

He added: “He doesn’t recall sending them but he doesn’t shy away from sending them.”

Mr Kilty asked magistrates to consider Corbett’s mental and physical health, explaining that he suffers from cancer.

Corbett, of Bath Street, Southport, admitted one count of harassment without violence.

Magistrate Alistair Beere said: “We have read the report and we have heard what has been said.

“For this offence you will be sentenced to a 12-month community order with 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirements.”

Magistrates Beere and Antoinette Buxton ordered Corbett to pay a fine of £250, £300 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

A three year restraining order was also imposed, preventing him from contacting the his exemployer, any other employees at the care home or from attending at the care home.
