Trekk beaming back for 2021!

-

QUEENSCOURT Hospice Queenscourt’s ever popular Star Trekk night walk was cancelled last year due to the pandemic but we are delighted to say it will make a welcome return next month.

The 14th sponsored 10K walk, which is kindly sponsored by Villagio Cucina, will take place on Friday, September 17 and we are hoping trekkers old and new will join us to celebrate its return and raise much-needed funds to help Keep Queenscourt in Service.

The last Star Trekk in 2019 attracted over 800 entrants who between them raised over £80,000. That amazing amount brought the total raised since the event began 15 years ago in 2007 to over £830,000! The walk is a healthy, energising and fun event open to people of all ages. You can take part on your own, with family and friends, with your exercise class or with your work colleagues – the choice is yours.

While many trekkers take part in memory of a loved one or because Queenscourt has supported them personally, others simply enjoy a fun night out and just want to raise money for their local hospice.

This year’s Star Trekk will start as usual at Casablanca, Southport Pleasureland where there will be a fun party atmosphere thanks to the pre-trekk entertainment ahead of the start of the walk at 7pm.

If you’d rather not join in the main event this year, for the first time ever we are inviting you to create your own 10k walk from wherever you choose. You may like to get creative and plot a ‘Star’ or a ‘Q’ for Queenscourt using Strava – the choice is yours! For the fashion conscious and to get Star Trekk ready with matching accessories, we are going Neon Yellow! All trekkers will receive a t-shirt and a medal.

Star Trekk is a flagship event in the Queenscourt calendar and while fundraising is at the discretion of the entrant, we kindly ask for a minimum sponsorship of £30 in addition to the entry fee.

If you sign up before September 10, the fee is £20 while entries after that date will cost £25 or £12.50 for under 16s.

Dianne Gillespie, events fundraiser, said: “It is wonderful that Star Trekk is able to take place this year. We can’t wait to host our first major event since the onset of Covid-19.

“Whether you are a brand new ‘Trekker’ or you have been trekking with us before we look forward to welcoming you for what promises to be a fun filled evening which will generate much needed income for the hospice.”
