Burglars break into home and steal car
AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a group of men broke into a home and stole a car.
At around 4.10am last Friday, February 4 it was reported that three or four men had broken into a house in Leamington Road in Ainsdale, stealing a number of items.
The suspects made off from the scene after they were disturbed by the occupier and no one was injured during the incident.
During the break-in, items reportedly stolen from the house include house and car keys, a Skoda Fabia car, and a wallet containing money, bank cards and a driving license.
Police attended the property and a helicopter deployed by the National Police Air Service undertook a search of the Sefton area in an attempt to find the suspects and the stolen car.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Harrops Croft, Netherton and has been recovered by police for forensic examinations.
Merseyside Police are now conducting CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.
Detective Inspector James Halpin said: “This was a very distressing experience for the victim who was left in a state of shock.
“Burglaries can have a massive impact on the person and families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through, and can often have a massive and long-lasting impact on victims.
“We urge anyone with any information to contact us so we can bring the offenders to justice.”
