Reward offered as ‘hot’ Defender stolen outside home

-

A MAN is offering a £2,500 reward after his prized Land Rover Defender vehicle was stolen from outside his home.

The distinctive metallic grey vehicle was parked in Limont Road, Ainsdale, when it was taken on either Friday or Saturday of last week.

The owner, Mick Addison, said the car was “knocked off” while he was away on business in Northern Ireland.

Mick is managing director of a firm called GBR Solutions, which helps people get into employment, mainly in the rail and construction sectors.

He bought the vehicle from a specialist firm in the south and it’s believed it was formerly being used for HS2 works.

Mick said: “The car is hot as there’s none around like it.

“I’m offering a reward because I’m convinced there’s an operation out there which is targeting Land Rovers, and either chopping them up or ringing them (providing with false number plates).

“Even if I don’t find my own vehicle, I want to help find one of the stolen ones. I don’t work just so scumbags can take what’s not theirs.”

Merseyside Police confirmed the Land Rover Defender was stolen “without the keys” and enquiries were ongoing.

Community Policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “We understand the concern and inconvenience that car thefts can cause for local residents and I would like to reassure the community that we are doing all we can to find out who is responsible and bring them to justice.

“If you were in the Limont Road area over the weekend and saw the vehicle described or anything or anyone suspicious then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.

“Whether you get in touch with us directly or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, all information will be acted upon.”
