Vets appeal to customers after abuse to staff

-

A SOUTHPORT vets practice is asking pet owners to be kind and considerate to its staff after a rise in abusive behaviour.

Vets4Pets is situated inside Pets At Home at Ocean Plaza retail park in Southport.

The friendly team there say that while they are eager to help pet owners, they are ‘only human’ and are asking people to be considerate when speaking with them.

A Vets4Pets spokesperson in Southport said: “It has unfortunately come to our attention that despite our best efforts to help assist and care for your animals, there has been an increase in the amount of abusive and rude behaviour toward our team members.

“It is very saddening that we have to post about this, but as a veterinary practice our main priority is to care for you and your pets and we will not tolerate such behaviour.

“We all understand that your pet becoming ill is a highly emotional time, but we are only human and ask that you please be considerate when speaking to any members of our team.

“Rude and abusive behaviour can lead to us declining any future treatment or service for your pets.”

Local people agreed. Speaking on their Vets4Pets Facebook page, Elaine McGo said: “It’s not on. No need for rudeness. I get it in my work across from you. Some people were just born rude. If they want their pet to be treated then they should mind their manners.”

Georgie Antonia said: “This makes me so angry that people have been so rude and disrespectful towards you all. I’ve seen you post this before and I’m sad it’s still happening.

“You all work so hard to look after our animals and you don’t deserve to be thanked by rudeness or abusive behaviour.

“Sorry this has happened to you all again and as you said, we are all only human and it’s nice to be nice!”
